The
Rochelle Park Volunteer Ambulance Corps is a group of dedicated volunteers
who donate their time and energy to provide Rochelle Park with 7 day a week
around the clock emergency medical service. The members are highly trained
as Emergency Medical Technicians and pride themselves in providing
exceptional and timely care whenever called upon. The Squad uses state of
the art equipment and utilizes 2 well maintained ambulances. To keep
abreast of the latest in emergency medical technology and face the new
challenges and threats that confront us today, the members must continue
their education by attending classes covering all aspects of the Emergency
Medical Service that are mandated by the State of New Jersey to keep their
EMT certifications valid. To prepare for their response to any major
incident that may occur, the Ambulance Corps also works closely and drills
regularly with the Police and Fire Departments of Rochelle Park and
surrounding communities. To report an emergency or call for an ambulance,
dial 9-1-1.
Besides providing the emergency services described above, the
Rochelle Park Volunteer Ambulance Corps also provides free of charge to the
residents of Rochelle Park, the loaning of medical equipment such as
wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, etc. Whenever possible, the Squad also
provides routine transports of residents between medical facilities and
home, also free of charge. Unfortunately, due to manpower constraints,
transports can only be done in the evening hours and only when there are
off-duty members available. The Squad also conducts CPR training classes at
cost for books only. To access any of these services, call the Ambulance
Corps at (201) 587-7744.
The Corps is always looking for new members. All training
required to become a certified EMT is provided free of charge by the Squad
at the Bergen County EMS Training Center in Paramus or the Law and Public
Safety Institute-EMS Academy in Mahwah. If interested, call or stop by the
Ambulance Building. You can also download an application card from this
site and mail or bring it to the Ambulance Building or drop it off at the
Municipal Complex.
